March Advocate Spotlight

Orlesia Tucker

 1. How long have you been an Advocate and when did you realize you wanted to become one?

I have been a CASA advocate for 5 years. I realized I wanted to be an advocate after hearing about the many children in the foster care system here in San Antonio and I thought I could make a difference in the children’s’ lives.

2. What is the most rewarding aspect of being an Advocate?

The most rewarding aspect of being an Advocate is seeing a smile on the child’s face when they are reconciled with their parents or other adults who love them and want what’s best for them and knowing they are safe.

3. If you could offer some words of encouragement to your fellow and incoming Advocates, what would they be?

There will be difficult times but never give up and stay positive. The children are counting on you. In most cases, we are the only constant in their lives.

CASA Volunteer Advocate, Christina Albert, was appointed to the case. She immediately contacted CPS, then reached out to the grandparents and traveled to visit the children.
