More than 300 people attended CASA’s Second Annual Breakfast of Champions on Wednesday, May 12, 2010. Nearly 160 individuals made pledges and donations at the event which generated $143,000 in funding for CASA. Twenty individuals joined the Champions of Hope Society – each pledging $1,000 a year for five years to CASA. Guests were challenged by Wayne Wright Lawyers which matched the first $3,000 donated at the breakfast. Judge Peter Sakai of 225 District Court served as emcee and led guests through a program that told the CASA story in a succinct and memorable way. One of the most touch moments was hearing 14-year-old Alexis describe how her CASA advocate, Tiffany, has made an impact in her life. Also on hand were CASA founders Ellinor Forland and Betty Zinn, who were recognized by CASA CEO, Janet Ketcham, for their commitment to abused and neglected children in Bexar County. |
